Cette oeuvre est inspirée d'un voyage au Maroc et des couleurs vues récemment sur les photos de voyage en Afrique du sud d'un ami. Beaucoup de chaleur dans les tons de jaune, d'orange et de rouge s'harmonise aux tons plus froid de la pierre. Les végétaux sont rares dans ces régions mais j'ai voulu quand même les mettre en valeur en plaçant au premier plan un arbre dans un rocher de montagne. On peut y voir une symbolique liée à la résilience des espèces dans les conditions parfois difficiles de la nature.
Desert colors
This work is inspired by a trip to Morocco and the colors recently seen in a friend's photos of a trip to South Africa. Lots of warmth in the tones of yellow, orange and red harmonize with the colder tones of the stone. Plants are rare in these regions but I still wanted to highlight them by placing a tree in a mountain rock in the foreground. We can see a symbolism linked to the resilience of species in the sometimes difficult conditions of nature.

Cette oeuvre est inspirée d'une promenade au bord du fleuve Saint-Laurent à Lévis. Pour cette peinture, l'artiste a particulièrement travaillé sur les textures et les couleurs très diverses de ce rivage rocheux. La marée en se retirant a laissé quelques flaques d'eau ruisselantes.

This work is inspired by a walk along the St. Lawrence River in Lévis. For this painting, the artist worked particularly on the very diverse textures and colors of this rocky shore. The receding tide left a few dripping puddles.

Dans cette œuvre, j'ai cherché à capturer l'essence brute et émotionnelle de la nature à travers l'utilisation audacieuse de l'aquarelle et de l'encre. Le style expressionniste me permet d'explorer la dynamique des couleurs et des formes, illustrant ainsi les contrastes et la puissance des rochers et des arbres. Chaque coup de pinceau est une expression de mes sentiments profonds face à la majesté imperturbable de la forêt. Cette peinture est une invitation à ressentir la tranquillité et la force émanant d'un paysage naturel, apportant une énergie vivifiante dans toute demeure.
Paysage croqué sur le motif lors d'une balade en forêt. De gros rochers de basalte trônent majestueusement tout en se laissant habité par le lichen et les mousses. En arrière plan, un arbre a réussi à s'implante au creux des fissures d'une falaise.

Rocks in the forest - 1
In this work I sought to capture the raw and emotional essence of nature through the bold use of watercolor and ink. The expressionist style allows me to explore the dynamics of colors and shapes, thus illustrating the contrasts and the power of rocks and trees. Each brushstroke is an expression of my deep feelings about the imperturbable majesty of the forest. This painting is an invitation to feel the tranquility and strength emanating from a natural landscape, bringing invigorating energy into any home.
Landscape sketched on the motif during a walk in the forest. Large basalt rocks sit majestically while being inhabited by lichen and moss. In the background, a tree has managed to take root in the cracks of a cliff.

It is a beach of sand and rocks in shades of red that the setting sun illuminates with all its fires. Gulls frequent this area. The river stretches as far as the eye can see.

Dans cette œuvre, j'ai capturé l'essence vibrante d'un étang gelé, utilisant des acryliques pour refléter les contrastes saisissants entre la glace scintillante et le ciel expansif. Ce petit étang avoisinant la rivière Chaudière près de Québec fait partie d'un sanctuaire d'oiseaux longeant les sentiers d'un parc à Breakeyville. Lors du dégel au printemps, la glace qui s'y est formé durant l'hiver fond doucement au fil des jours qui s'adoucissent. Plusieurs nuances de bleus et de gris apparaissent alors sur ce plan d'eau entouré de plantes herbacées telles que la quenouille et la phragmite.
This small pond bordering the Chaudière River near Quebec is part of a bird sanctuary along the trails of a park in Breakeyville. During the spring thaw, the ice that formed there during the winter slowly melts over the warming days. Several shades of blue and gray then appear on this body of water surrounded by herbaceous plants such as cattail and warbler.

Bien que ce masque ne soit le plus souvent qu'une expression faciale, il est dans certains cas un attribut auquel doit s'astreindre la personne pour être acceptée dans sa communauté. Le port du voile intégral en est un exemple et il est utilisé ici pour illustrer de façon extrême l'impossibilité de savoir précisément les pensées des gens qu'on côtoie.
Dans cette oeuvre, la montagne au premier plan évoque une femme voilée portant le masque. Devant la montagne, le décor représente l'idée qu'on se fait des pensées de cette femme voilée. Toutefois derrière la montagne, le décor est tout autre, évoquant ainsi l'illusion de savoir vraiment ce que pense cette femme.

Untitled (The Mystery of the Veiled Woman)
Metaphorical landscape. Subtle evocation of what is hidden behind the mask that an individual wears as a social facade. Although this mask is most often only a facial expression, it is in some cases an attribute that the person must adhere to in order to be accepted in his community. The wearing of the full veil is an example of this and it is used here to illustrate in an extreme way the impossibility of knowing precisely the thoughts of the people one meets.
In this work, the mountain in the foreground evokes a veiled woman wearing a mask. In front of the mountain, the decor represents the idea one has of the thoughts of this veiled woman. However, behind the mountain, the scenery is quite different, thus evoking the illusion of really knowing what this woman is thinking.

Le Parc des Grandes Coulées est un lieu de promenade traversé par la rivière Noire. Les pêcheurs sont ravis d'y trouver plusieurs indications pour localiser les fosses où se tiennent de petites truites. C'est lors d'une marche dans ce parc que j'ai croqué la photo qui a inspiré ce tableau.
The Parc des Grandes Coulées is a place for walking crossed by the Black River. Fishermen are delighted to find several indications there to locate the pools where small trout are kept. It was during a walk in this park that I sketched the photo that inspired this painting.

Ce coucher de soleil sur la neige en hiver au Québec a été peint suite à une balade de l'artiste en raquette dans un champs près de sa demeure. En hiver, le crépuscule est un moment privilégié pour voir les couleurs flamboyantes du ciel se réfléchissant subtilement sur la neige et en apothéose dans les nuages. Les arbustes délimitant les champs, la forêt au loin, tout est là pour jouir pleinement des grands espaces du Canada. Les jaunes, les oranges et les rouges du tableau donnent une agréable chaleur à ce paysage pourtant hivernal.

Winter twilight
This sunset over the snow in winter in Quebec was painted after the artist snowshoeed in a field near his home. In winter, dusk is a privileged moment to see the flamboyant colors of the sky reflected subtly on the snow and in apotheosis in the clouds. The shrubs delimiting the fields, the forest in the distance, everything is there to enjoy the great outdoors of Canada. The yellows, oranges and reds of the painting give a pleasant warmth to this winter landscape.
The work was made with a spatula and a brush, the sides are an extension of the work, the surface is varnished and the back is fitted with a metal wire for hanging.

Diverses teintes de bleus sont générés par la luminosité du crépuscule nordique se reflétant sur la neige. Ce paysage capté en bordure du grand fleuve St-Laurent montre la dérive des glaces vers la mer, phénomène se produisant à tous les printemps dans la région de Québec. Des flocons ont été intégrés pour rehausser la texture de l'oeuvre illustrant la rugosité des blocs de glace.
L'oeuvre a été réalisée à la spatule et au pinceau, la surface est vernie et l'endos est muni d'un fil métallique pour l'accrochage.

River in March
Various shades of blue are generated by the brightness of the northern twilight reflecting off the snow. This landscape captured along the great St. Lawrence River shows the drift of ice towards the sea, a phenomenon that occurs every spring in the Quebec region. Flakes have been integrated to enhance the texture of the work illustrating the roughness of the blocks of ice.
The work was made with a spatula and a brush, the surface is varnished and the back is provided with a metal wire for hanging.

L'île d'Orléans, l'île Madame et le mont Sainte-Anne font partie de ce beau panorama. Le grand héron est l'un des oiseaux qui fréquentent cette plage.
This scene was made on the motif while I was on the beach at Pointe-de-Saint-Vallier in 2021. This is the place where the St. Lawrence River gently widens towards the sea. The island Orléans, Île Madame and Mont Sainte-Anne are part of this beautiful panorama. The great blue heron is one of the birds that frequent this beach.
