Paysage métaphorique. Évocation subtile de ce qui se cache derrière le masque dont un individu se munit comme façade sociale. Bien que ce masque ne soit le plus souvent qu'une expression faciale, il est dans certains cas un attribut auquel doit s'astreindre la personne pour être acceptée dans sa communauté. Le port du voile intégral en est un exemple et il est utilisé ici pour illustrer de façon extrême l'impossibilité de savoir précisément les pensées des gens qu'on côtoie.
Dans cette oeuvre, la montagne au premier plan évoque une femme voilée portant le masque. Devant la montagne, le décor représente l'idée qu'on se fait des pensées de cette femme voilée. Toutefois derrière la montagne, le décor est tout autre, évoquant ainsi l'illusion de savoir vraiment ce que pense cette femme.

Untitled (The Mystery of the Veiled Woman)
Metaphorical landscape. Subtle evocation of what is hidden behind the mask that an individual wears as a social facade. Although this mask is most often only a facial expression, it is in some cases an attribute that the person must adhere to in order to be accepted in his community. The wearing of the full veil is an example of this and it is used here to illustrate in an extreme way the impossibility of knowing precisely the thoughts of the people one meets.
In this work, the mountain in the foreground evokes a veiled woman wearing a mask. In front of the mountain, the decor represents the idea one has of the thoughts of this veiled woman. However, behind the mountain, the scenery is quite different, thus evoking the illusion of really knowing what this woman is thinking.
